SOUTHINGTON - Police arrested a 20-year-old Bristol man early Tuesday morning in connection with a fatal shooting in Bristol over the weekend.

Authorities say they took Anthony Johnson into custody shortly before 2 a.m. Tuesday after a judge signed an arrest warrant charging him with murder in the killing of 24-year-old Fred Felix of New Britain on Sunday.

Southington Police Spokesman Sgt. Lowell DePalma said Bristol Police alerted the Central Region Community Response team, of which Southington is a part, to serve the arrest warrant.

DePalma said Bristol Police obtained information that Johnson was staying at the Holiday Inn Express, 120 Laning St., in Southington. Southington and Bristol officers found Johnson and some associates the parking lot of the hotel.

Johnson was ordered held in lieu of $3 million bail and was to be arraigned Tuesday in state Superior Court. His associates, Wilfredo Perez, 24, and Lamare Brooks, 24, both of Bristol, were arrested on drug charges by Southington police.

Police say Felix was shot shortly after 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the Cambridge Park public housing area. The medical examiner's office says he died of multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities have not released a motive.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
