Work along Amtrak corridor leads to delays

MERIDEN - Construction along the Amtrak corridor has led to some minor delays for motorists in the downtown area Tuesday morning.

Heavy traffic had developed along Hanover Street around 9 a.m., causing minor delays, and cars were also experiencing extra stop times at lights along East Main Street. The delays were caused by several railroad crossing stops used to bring equipment through the area.

Police were monitoring the situation and workers on site said delays should be minimal as they continue to work. Patience is requested, but the construction is not expected to cause any detours or major delays.
