MERIDEN - The three minority party members to serve on the newly elected City Council are feeling snubbed after Democrats decided to name their own to committee leadership positions this week. There is also some quibbling about the number of leadership roles among the two minority parties, We the People and the Republican Party.

Town manager: Soccer league building should've been fixed by Southington
SOUTHINGTON - Supporters of the Southington Youth Soccer League dug into their own pockets this season to pay nearly $8,000 in repair costs for their building at Recreation Park. The problem is, those expenses should have been paid by the town, according to Town Manager John Weichsel.

MERIDEN - East side resident Stephen Martin and his cat recently took to drinking filtered water after he experienced a sickening odor in his tap water on Saturday.

"It was really bad here," said Martin, of Lowe Avenue. "It was incredibly foul."
